The extractive industries are a major component of Wyoming's economy. The firm provides a broad range of services to the industries in acquisitions and acquisition financing, title examination, contract negotiation and resolution of contract disputes, negotiation of off-shore exploration rights, state and local taxation, environmental audits, acquiring access to drill sites, resolving surface damage disputes, work before the Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission, counseling in environmental law, public lands issues, and lobbying before the Wyoming Legislature.
The firm has long been a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to the sponsorship of legal research, scholarship, and education concerning the full range of natural resource issues in the western United States. Several of our lawyers have been very active in the Foundation's activities. A member of the firm served for a number of years on the governing body of the Foundation and has authored a number of articles presented at Foundation institutes. The firm has a long history of involvement in the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a federally authorized interstate compact with membership by all of the thirty-five oil and gas producing states. Several firm members have served on various compact committees over the years.
