Rin Karns

An associate with the firm, Rin Karns received her undergraduate degree in French Language and Literature from Baylor University. In 2006, she graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming College of Law and was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif.

While in law school, Rin served as President of the Board of Advocates, published a case note in the Wyoming Law Journal, worked as a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant, and argued twice before the Wyoming Supreme Court. Prior to law school, Rin worked as assistant press secretary for a congressman in Washington, D.C. She then moved to Dallas where she taught AP French in a public high school for a number of years before attending law school.

Rin’s practice focuses on Energy Resource Law, including oil and gas litigation and legal services to developers and investors involved in renewable energy projects. Rin represents some of Wyoming’s major developers of wind power, providing wind lease agreements and title opinions, permitting of wind rights-of-way/leases with the BLM and State, helping clients obtain conditional use and building permits from Wyoming counties, and assisting in the permitting of energy facilities through the State industrial siting process.

Rin’s practice also includes all areas of oil and gas law, appellate advocacy, business transactions, and civil litigation. She is admitted to practice in all Wyoming state and federal courts as well as the United States Court of Federal Claims.

For recreation, Rin enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, reading, and snowshoeing with her two dogs.
