Rex Arney is a partner in the firm, with an emphasis on litigation, estate planning and family law. Rex received his B.A. in 1962 and an M.A. in 1963 from the University of Wyoming and his law degree from the University of Illinois in 1968. Prior to obtaining his law degree, he taught political science and economics at Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois.
Raised on a ranch in Dayton, Wyoming, Rex graduated from high school in Sheridan and returned to Sheridan following law school where he practiced law for 20 years. During that time he served in the Wyoming Legislature for 16 years and was Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. In 1988, he became General Counsel and Congressional Liaison for the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, he taught a course on ethics in government at George Washington University. Two years later he returned to Wyoming to resume private practice and is the resident partner in the firms Sheridan office.
Rex has been very active in community, professional and political affairs throughout his career. He serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of Wyoming College of Law, the Wyoming State Bar Foundation Board of Directors, and the Advisory Committee of Civil Division of the Permanent Rules. He is also a member of the Governors Advisory Committee on Children and Families and served as chairman of the Governor's Select Committee on State Lands. Rex is on the board of Wyoming Blue Cross Blue Shield. Rex has been active in his community as a member and past president of Rotary, on the board of Sheridan Heritage Center and the Advisory Committee of Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center Foundation.
Rex enjoys a variety of activities including golf, skiing and photography.
